Great opportunity to see outstanding high school football in this Level 4 game. River
Falls has been on an offensive tear behind the one-two punch of QB Tino Massa
and RB Joseph Tarasewicz. In the Wildcats' 52-38 Level 3 win over Oshkosh North,
Massa threw for 324 yards and 4 TDs, while Tarasewicz rushed for 210 yards and 2
TDs. For the season, the dynamic duo has combined for 4755 total yards and 54 touchdowns.
Easy to see why River Falls is averaging 50 points per game in the playoffs. On
the other side of the ball, the Wildcats will be trying to slow down the best
running back in the state. Notre Dame's Kingston Allen ran for 286 yards and
scored all four of the Tritons touchdowns in their 28-20 win over Rice Lake.
That upped Allen's season total to 2967 yards rushing and 49 TDs. Outscoring
Allen appears to be the only solution to beating Notre Dame and River Falls has
the weapons to do just that. |

Baldwin-Woodville's 27-20 win over Aquinas in Level 3 opened a lot of eyes
despite last year's runner-up finish in Madison. Graduation took away most of
the offensive production, so the Blackhawks had to rely on returning RB Dane
Veenendall while Jr. QB Joe Jensen settled into his role for Baldwin-Woodville.
Veenendall has rushed for 1276 yards while Jensen has 2179 yards of total
offense and a combined 35 touchdowns. However, in the Aquinas win, it was the
Blackhawks defense stepping up to hold the Blugolds scoreless in the fourth
quarter for the upset. Unbeaten Winneconne relies heavily on QB Brody Schaffer. Schaffer completed 11 of 15 passes and 2 early touchdowns to get the Wolves off to a fast start,
while the defense picked off four passes to stifle Freedom. This game marks a
semifinal rematch that vaulted Baldwin-Woodville into the title game a year ago.
This game might be decided by PATs. Winneconne has kicked an amazing 67 of 68
points after touchdown, while the Blackhawks have 42 two point conversions. |

Not having your leading rusher available because of illness, as Northwestern
did with Tysen Teal last week, might cause a game plan panic in most programs. But the Tigers coaching staff
knew what we predicted a week ago. The star of the game was the offensive line. Ripping holes in the
Grantsburg defense, Northwestern ran for 392 yards with Bryer Burkhart gaining 200 of those yards and that was with a
second half running clock. Their Level 4 opponent, Stratford, had an impressive 29-0 win over Tomahawk.
Stratford dropped their first two games of the year to playoff powers Mosinee and Edgar and have since rolled to
10 straight victories. The Tigers are led by versatile QB Brady Berg and leading rusher Brook Vanderhoof
and a ball hawking defense. That defense will be the story in this game.
Stratford doesn't have the offense to run long stretches of time off the clock,
so the Tigers need to create turnovers like they did against
Tomahawk. |

This game features the young stars of Mondovi against the winning tradition of
one of Wisconsin's most successful football programs of all time. Mondovi beat
another one of those traditional powers in Level 3, handing previously unbeaten
Regis a 35-28 defeat. Sophomore quarterback Bode Falkner continued his stellar
play, leading the Buffaloes with 196 yards passing and 127 on the ground against
the Ramblers. Junior Safety Blake Williamson picked off Regis three times in the
game and brought his season total to an impressive nine interceptions. Edgar won
a good old fashioned playoff battle against Bonduel 8-7 in their Level 3 game
last week. Neither team generated much offense because of determined defensive
play. Edgar's defense has 8 shutouts and have only allowed two
touchdowns in a single game once all season. Edgar's challenge is to stop Mondovi from making big
yardage plays and turn the game into a line of scrimmage slugfest. |

C-FC made a huge statement in their 35-14 Level 3 win over a terrific
Boyceville team. The defense held the Bulldogs to 92 yards rushing, which in turn
led to a scrambling Boyceville offense that led to three turnovers. That was
expected from a Pirate defense that has 8 shutout wins and has not given up more
than two touchdowns in a game yet. The offense behind QB Parker Kujak's 216 yards passing scored a
surprising 35 against a usually staunch Bulldog defense. Lourdes survived a
bruising battle against Hilbert in their Level 3 win. Hilbert had 50 rushing
attempts to only 26 for Lourdes, but Lourdes made enough fourth down defensive
stands to keep the game in reach. The Knights rely on two way threat QB Brady Bauer. Bauer has
thrown for 1476 yards and run for 1146 to account for 36 total touchdowns and
most of Lourdes offense. If Lourdes gives up 3 scores to the C-FC offense, the
game will be over. |

Clearly the two best 8-Player teams in the state are in the title game this
year. Ironically they are both in the same conference. In Week 5, Gilman
dominated McDonell in the second half to come away with a convincing victory. At
the time, it seemed destined that these two teams would meet again in the
playoffs and here they are. McDonell has been an offensive juggernaut in the
playoffs. In Level 2, the Macks pounded an undefeated Flambeau squad 66-30 and
followed that win with a 64-29 dismantling of unbeaten Lena. The Macks are
averaging 62 points and 555 yards of offense in their four playoff victories. RB
Dawson Moulton has 741 yards rushing and 13 TDs in the last three playoff games. Gilman won a hard fought Level 3
game 30-12 over Oakfield. Despite being out gained 299-270 in total yards, the
Pirates broke open a tight game with two quick third quarter touchdowns to lock down the win. Gilman is a young team with only five
seniors but plays with the poise of a more experienced team. In the first game
against McDonell, Gilman had 49 rushing attempts to 31 for the Macks. If Gilman
can keep the ball away from Dawson Moulton like this again, expect the Pirates
to come away with the championship trophy. |
