Week 7 produced an instant classic as Regis scored on the final play of the game to capture a 27-22 win over Mondovi and the Cloverbelt title. Level 3 brings us round two of this great rivalry at Carson Park this Friday. In Level 2 play last week, Mondovi trounced Scenic Bluffs champion Bangor, 41-12. What is even scarier about that win is Mondovi's lineup consists of mostly underclassmen, led by amazing sophomore QB Bode Falkner. Those young players keep getting better each week the season is extended. Falkner has put up remarkable numbers this year, throwing for 1734 yards and rushing for 1084 and a combined 35 touchdowns. Regis showed their playoff experience last week as the Ramblers dug out of a 22-8 hole to win 23-22 over Fall Creek. Regis doesn't have the stars of years past but they are sound in all aspects of defensive play and execute their offense with tremendous consistency. Can that overcome a Mondovi team that is better than the team Regis defeated a month ago? Mondovi will be incredible next year, but the Buffaloes have no intention of waiting for 2026.

If your defense has only given up 42 points in 11 victories like Boyceville has, you figure booking rooms in Madison would be a given. Well, what if your Level 3 opponent has only surrendered 28 points all season, which is precisely what the Cochrane-Fountain City defense has done in 2025. The phrase "Defense wins championships" certainly applies to both teams. Boyceville's QB Carson Roemhild is a three year starter and is the heart of the Bulldogs. Roemhild has thrown 27 touchdowns while intercepting 7 passes on the other side of the ball. Senior running back, Zach Hellendrung leads Boyceville in rushing and is a beast at his linebacker spot on defense. C-FC has a balanced offensive attack that makes efficient use of the defense returning good field position throughout the game. Patience could well be the difference in this game. No mistakes, no panic, just belief in what the Pirates do best.

Baldwin-Woodville appeared to be wearing down at the end of the regular season but they have definitely been invigorated by the playoffs. After scoring 57 points against Ashland in the first round, the Blackhawks followed that up with 61 points in the Level 2 win over Platteville. Junior QB Joe Jensen has been a terror to defend the second half of the season. His passing and running have accounted for 34 TDs. His favorite target for the long ball has been WR Brody Everts. Everts is averaging 25 yards per catch for his 34 receptions. RB Dane Veenendall has rushed for well over 1000 yards and has converted a ridiculous 26 two point conversions. Aquinas will be looking to take advantage of a Blackhawk defense that has given up at least 3 touchdowns in four of the last five games. Aquinas QB Ryan Johnson threw for 255 yards and 5 TDs in the Blugolds' 49-7 win over Osceola last week. Aquinas is more finesse than physical but they are very good at what they do on both sides of the ball.

Northwestern began the season as a steamroller on flat ground and is now an unstoppable force heading downhill. Gone is the predictable offensive scheme, and in its place an offense that can score from anywhere on the field. RB Tysen Teal has been on a tear, ripping off long runs behind a very physical offensive line. Teal has run for 1708 yards and 29 touchdowns. Junior QB Kamden Kroll's passing has allowed former starter Ethan Harms to move outside and become the Tigers' leading receiver. Northwestern's 48 points per game average may be necessary to overcome Grantsburg's offense. The Pirates' QB Brock Matheny is one of the best at his position in the state. Matheny's completion percentage of 68 percent makes Grantsburg tough to defend no matter what down and distance the Pirates face. Add the speedy RB Daxter Schultz to the mix and you can see why Grantsburg is undefeated. This game will be decided by the offensive lines. Winning the line of scrimmage for Northwestern and pass protection for Grantsburg.

In nine of McDonell's wins, the Macks have scored 55 or more points, and the tenth win was a 39-0 shutout of Owen-Withee. The lone blemish on McDonell's record was a Week 5 loss to number 1 ranked Gilman, 38-12, in a game that was closer than the final score. In the last two playoff wins, RB Dawson Moulton has rushed for 544 yards and 12 touchdowns including 322 yards and 6 TDs against previously unbeaten Flambeau. Add QB Cael Holm and his 1078 yards passing and you have a scoring machine. This week's opponent, Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, possibly has the key to at least slowing down the Macks. The Titans have only amassed 238 yards passing, so they obviously run the ball with authority. Max Peterson leads Lena with 1398 yards on the ground. Ball control is the answer. McDonell can't score if they don't have the ball. If the Titans can take time off the clock, this game could come down to final possessions in the fourth quarter.
