Thousands of area male and female basketball athletes,
volunteers and fans of all ages converged on Eau Claire's Owen
Park area for the annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament this
past weekend under ideal weather conditions. Teams from as far
away as Hurley and Crivitz donned sneakers under a sort of
carnival type atmosphere along the banks of the Chippewa River. Photos from
the July 13th-14th event will be available soon.
Will Ryan who is the son of legendary
head basketball coach Bo Ryan of the Wisconsin Badgers is
reportedly set to become an assistant basketball coach at North
Dakota State University. Badger basketball fans may recall North
Dakota State's upset of the Badgers at the Kohl Center two seasons ago.
Carson Park will be a busy place this weekend
for some Great Plains Football League playoff action.
The Chippewa Valley Predators face the Artic
Blast of the U.P. of Michigan on Saturday at 7pm
The Eau Claire Crush face the Northern
Wisconsin Thunderhawks on Sunday at 6pm.

The Rosemeyer head football coaching
tree just continues to grow. We have Rod Rosemeyer at Durand, Robin
Rosemeyer at Gilman, Jeff Rosemeyer at Colby and
now Dean Rosemeyer at Eau Claire North. Dean Rosemeyer
was named interim head football coach of the Huskies last week but is
no stranger to the Huskies sideline. He's been with the program since 1984.
Highly placed sources have told WWS that Shaun
Fisher will likely be the new head basketball coach at Unity high
school. Stay tuned.
Eau Claire native Sis Paulsen has been
named an assistant hockey coach for the Mankato State University
Women's hockey team. Paulsen who was a 4 year letter winner on the Wisconsin
Badgers Women's hockey team spent the past 3 years as an assistant coach
for the Bemidji State Women's hockey program.
UW-Stout two-time All American Women's basketball
player Kelsey Duoss will leave in late September to play
professionally in Australia. She has signed a contract to play for the Dandenong
