Congratulations to the Flambeau Falcons on winning the WIAA Division 4 state girls basketball championship!!  Flambeau defeated Barneveld 53-44 last Saturday to claim their 2nd consecutive championship.  Beth Alberson and Whitney Verdegan led the way by scoring 28 of the Falcons 53 points. The Falcons defense stymied Barneveld throughout.

 

Congratulations are also in order for the Regis Ramblers, Gilman Pirates and Eleva-Strum Cardinals boys basketball teams for winning their sectionals last Saturday and they are all headed to Madison.

In Division 3 Eau Claire Regis knocked off Webster 56-43.  Kilian Murphy and Paul Mertens led the way with 15 pts each. Regis faces Racine St. Catherine's in a Thursday morning semi-final game.

 

In Division 4 the Gilman Pirates knocked off Butternut 57-41. Joel Kulesa and Jacob Doro led the way for the Pirates. Gilman faces Randolph in a Friday morning semi-final game. Eleva-Strum will be playing in the other semi-final game Friday morning as they defeated River Ridge 80-56.  Lance Rongstad and Adam Walker led the way for the Cardinals. They play Suring on Friday. If Eleva-Strum and Gilman should win it would set up a final  identical to the Division 7 football championship game played back in November. Wouldn't that be something!
