14 high school football teams
from throughout the state of Wisconsin are converging on Camp Randall
Stadium for the 2007 WIAA state championship games Thursday and
Friday.
Eleva-Strum will represent this
area in Division 7 as they face Southwestern at 10am Thursday
morning. Here are our picks from all 7 divisions and thanks again
to Bill (aka Billybobble) for helping out.

UWEC head football coach Todd Glaser
was named WIAC George Chryst football coach of the year in
just his second year at UWEC. . Incidently, George Chryst who was the
football coach at Platteville is the only other WIAC coach to receive Coach
of the year honors in just his second year at a school.
UWEC WR-Tony Hull has been named WIAC
and West Wisconsin Sports WIAC player of the week
for his efforts in the Blugolds 17-14 win over UW-Stout.
Several WIAC Men's and Women's
basketball teams will open their 2007-2008 seasons this weekend.
West Wisconsin Sports will once again have all the scores, boxscores and
updated standings for you.
Eau Claire Memorial senior Brady
Keegan has signed a letter of intent to play golf next year for
the University of Wisconsin Badgers.
Stanley-Boyd senior Holly Mertens has
signed her letter of intent to
play volleyball at Marquette University next year.
The Eau Claire Cavaliers
baseball team has named former Eau Claire Regis baseball coach Mark
McHorney as their new manager.
The Eau Claire Express baseball team
is in the process of being sold to Bill Rowlett. That sale should
be completed in the coming weeks.
The WIAA Board of Control has approved
a recommendation that beginning in the spring of 2009 area high
school baseball and softball teams will be able to play as many as 26
regular season games. The current limit is 20 games. The
Board of Control also approved plans to play the high school boys basketball
tournament one week earlier than the girls tournament in 2010 and 2011.
It should be noted the high school boys basketball tournament will be held
one week prior to the girls tournament this spring as well.
