Congratulations to the Eleva-Strum
Cardinals football team on an undefeated 14-0 season that was
capped off by a 41-6 whipping of Southwestern in the Division 7 title game.
One of the highlights of the game was senior Lance Rongstad's 79 yard
kickoff return for a touchdown that was about 150 yards seemingly as he came
to the press box side initially and cut it back to the far side and into the
end zone.
The 2007-2008 high school basketball season is
underway. We update the scores every night here on WWS. Congratulations
to the Elmwood Raiders girls basketball team who defeated
Boyceville for the first time in 10 years last week in their 49-46
triumph.
I know it's early but look for the
Girls Dunn-St. Croix Conference to be more balanced this season and
not just the big three of Colfax, Boyceville and Mondovi like it was a year
ago.
The Baldwin-Woodville boys basketball
team could be better than some people think despite having all new
starters and inexperience on their roster this season. They hammered Spring
Valley 61-48 last week.
Look for the 2-0 EC Immanuel Lutheran
girls basketball team to make some noise this season. They have got
the size underneath and the perimeter game to compete with anybody.
Check out the top 5 games of the week
for basketball on our site every week.
Congratulations
to all the high school football athletes on being named to the Wisconsin
Football Coaches Association All-State Football team from our area.

Congratulations to the UW-Eau Claire
football team on a very fine 9-3 season and exceeding all outside
expectations. They were picked to finish 7th in the WIAC and they finished
in 2nd place and advanced to round 2 of the NCAA playoffs before falling to
Bethel College last Saturday 21-12. The Blugolds ran out of healthy
quarterbacks with college experience but congratulations to all the
seniors and to WIAC Coach of the Year Todd Glaser.
Our prediction for the NFL NFC game of
the year this Thursday? Packers 34 Cowboys 31.
