Happy New Year to everyone. WWS hopes you and
your loved ones had a great Christmas and New Year. WWS would also like to
thank you for making 2007 our most successful year ever and we look forward
to serving you in 2008.
One of the biggest non-conference clashes of
the boys basketball regular season takes place tonight at the Doghouse in
Eau Claire as New Richmond takes on Eau Claire North. It should be a great
game and be sure to see our take on it in our top 5 games feature.
Congratulations to UW-River Falls Women's
basketball coach Cindy Hovet on her 100th win last month.
We regret we overlooked UW-Oshkosh Men's
basketball coach Ted Van Dellen earning his 300th win in our most recent
column but congratulations to him and congratulation to the Titans on being
in first place in the WIAC conference entering 2008.
The combined records of Rice Lake, River
Falls, Eau Claire Memorial and Chippewa Falls is an impressive 28-5 as of
this writing in the very stacked girls Big Rivers Conference. That
conference could send two teams to state.
I guess we should have a Top 6 games of the
week this week with the top boys team in the Western Cloverbelt
Conference Eau Claire Regis hosting Eleva-Strum who is the top team in the
Small Dairyland Conference on Saturday afternoon. Look for the Cardinals to
get the win in this one by ten.
Look for some new and improved things on West
Wisconsin Sports in 2008. Enjoy the games everyone and keep coming back for
your scores and standings.
