| Alex Gilles picked the right stage to have the
performance of his life on Saturday. Gilles was throwing darts and hitting
bulls-eyes from the beginning in Plum City's convincing 44-12 win over
Hillsboro. After the Blue Devils jumped to a quick lead, Hillsboro fought back
to close the gap but then came the dagger to the heart. From his own 12 yard
line, Gilles found Lance VonHoltum free and 88 yards later Plum City had put the
game on ice. After hitting 80% of his tosses for 294 yards and 6 TDs, Gilles
makes the Plum City passing game the focus of the offense but the Blue Devil
running game is also potent enough to keep De Soto from dropping too many
defenders into the secondary in Saturday's Level 3 match up at De Soto. |
