| Elk Mound jumped off to a fast start this season
with a resounding 28-0 win over Eleva-Strum. Leading the charge was senior QB
Nick Heit with 196 yards through the air, completing 15 of 19 passes for 2 TDs.
The key completion of the game came at the end of the first half as Heit hooked
up with Dakota Tarnow for 26 yards and the score with no time remaining on the
clock. Heit also added a 3 yard scoring run in the third quarter to put the game
on ice for Elk Mound. Jordon Klemp added 100 yards on the ground to balance out
the offense and set up play action passes that kept the Cardinals off balance
all game. The Mounders, behind veteran coach Dan Peterson, are poised to make a
run at the Dunn St. Croix title but have to knock off defending champ St. Croix
Central to do it. |
