Game Result: Ellsworth 51, St. Croix Central 0
The Panthers senior running back would not be denied against SCC as he rambled for a season high 286 yards and 5 touchdowns in Ellsworth's opening round win 51-0. Schutz has turned into the workhorse in a Panther offense that is seldom spectacular but often reliable. Midseason convincing win over Middle Border power and defending D4 state champ Somerset gave Ellsworth the boost they needed to go on to win the MB and stay undefeated. Level 2 match up with Black River Falls is a contrast in styles. The Tigers, led by sr. QB Ethan Young, will gamble and throw from anywhere on the field. Young's 2233 yards and 28 TDs through the air present a challenge unlike any teams in the Middle Border. Likely rematch with Somerset at Level 3 needs to be put out of mind for Schutz and rest of the Panthers. Take care of business against Black River Falls and move on to 11-0.
