What a great way to kick off the 2017 schedule, with traditional powers Bloomer and Somerset going head to head in Week 1. Both teams were looking to bounce back from disappointing 2016 seasons, so expectations were running high on both sidelines. Somerset's FB, Jack Peterson, roared through the Blackhawk defense for 251 yards rushing and 3 TDs but Bloomer had an answer for Peterson's heroics in QB Zach Ruf. Throwing for 2 TDs and running for 3 others, Ruf rolled for 361 yards of total offense in leading Bloomer to a nerve racking 46-38 win. Ruf also rushed for 3 two point conversions and passed for 2 more to account for 40 of the 46 points in the win. It is only week one but clearly Bloomer and Somerset are back and just may face each other again in the playoffs.
