Game Result: McDonell 22, Gilman 0
Even though it was the 8-PLAYER championship, Gilman was the clear favorite having beaten McDonell in Week 5 and gone through the season unbeaten and ranked number one. It was David vs. Goliath in biblical terms, but the reality was that the Macks had done some growing of their own throughout the playoffs. RB Dawson Moulton had been unstoppable and deserved to be the main focus of the Gilman defense. But the slingshot that brought down the Pirates was the arm of Jr. quarterback Cael Holm. Holm replaced graduated four year starter Grant Smiskey this season but handled the transition seamlessly. Then, when it came time to compete in the biggest arena, Holm performed flawlessly. The 22 McDonell points came as a result of three touchdown passes to Luke Andersen, as Holm went 12 for 17 and 176 yards. Clutch performance at the right time. Congratulations Macks!
