Darnell Harris Sam Barber

UW-Whitewater student /athlete Warhawk forward Darnell Harris (Fr.-Milwaukee /WI) scored 34 points facing WIAC opponents this week and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball 'Player of the Week'.

Harris scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in a 66-55 Warhawk win over visiting UW-Platteville at Kachel Gym on Saturday (2/23) in the WIAC Tournament Championship game, and with the victory UW-Whitewater receives an automatic bid to the NCAA D-III Basketball Championships.

On Thursday (2/21) facing a determined UW-Stout team Harris put-out-the-lights on a late Blue Devil comeback, connecting on a three-point-play with 24 ticks remaining on the clock, in a dramatic UW-Whitewater 64-59 win over visiting UW-Stout.

Harris dropped in 14 points in the contest, adding to his season totals (309) ranked 18th in the conference.

He also had six boards, 5 defensive.

In the regular season the 'Hawk forward pounded the glass for 134 rebounds (99 defensive) 7th in the WIAC.
UW-Stevens Point student/athlete Pointer guard Sam Barber (Sr.-Schofield/WI) scored 49 points facing WIAC opponents this week and is 'once again' the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball 'Player of the Week'.

The defending WIAC Tournament Champion Pointers keep the title for another year with the help of the Pointer guard who burned up the court at Kachel Gym in Whitewater on Sunday (2/24), scoring an amazing 36 points in a wild 76-71 UW-SP overtime win over UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Championship game.

Barber converted six three-point plays in the game, and grabbed 7 rebounds.

On Wednesday (2/20) facing UW-Eau Claire Barber scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds in a 57-47 Pointer win over the visiting Blugolds at Bennett Court.

Barber paced the conference in scoring this season with 524 points, averaging 18.7 points per game, and is 10th on the UW-SP all-time scoring list with 1,224 regular season points.

Earlier this season Barber was the WWS 'player of the week' scoring 58 total points in a pair of UW-Stevens Point wins over conference rivals UW-Stout (86-57) and UW-La Crosse (67-47).

UW-Stevens Point, as WIAC Tournament Champions, receive an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA D-III Women's Basketball Championships which start on March 1st.

UW-Stevens Point student/ athlete Pointer guard Trevor Hass (Jr.-New London/WI) is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball player of the week.

UW-Stevens Point wrapped up conference play this week with a pair of wins, thanks in part to Hass who scored 33 points facing WIAC opponents, including a game-high 15 points on Saturday (2/16), as the defending National Champions held visiting UW-Eau Claire to just 34 points in a 68-34 lop-sided Pointer home win on Bennett Court.

Hass converted 4-of-7 3-point plays in the contest adding to his season total (59) ranked 5th in the WIAC.

Wednesday (2/13), on-the-road at the Johnson Fieldhouse in Menomonie, the Stevens Point guard/f joined four UW-SP players finishing with double figures in a sensational 76-74 UW-SP overtime win over tough UW-Stout, finishing with 18 points and 4 assists.

This season Hass has scored 303 points, ranked 11th in the conference, averaging 11.9 points per contest, playing in 25 games.
UW-Whitewater student/ athlete Warhawk center Cortney Kumerow (Sr.-Bartlett/IL) is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball player of the week.

The Warhawks will receive a first-round bye in the WIAC tournament (which starts later this week) as the team finished the season with a 20-5 overall record. Kumerow, the leagues 4th leading scorer (332 points), averaging 13.3 points per contest was a major contributor.

Kumerow racked up an amazing 188 rebounds this year (116 defensive) ranked 2nd in the conference, picking up 6 more on Saturday (2/16) in a 66-60 Warhawk home win over perennial powerhouse UW-River Falls at Kachel Gym.

The UW-W Senior center tied for a team-high 12 points in the contest, and then on Wednesday (2/13) paced the squad with a double-double performance (15 points, 10 boards) in a 58-49 win over UW-Oshkosh in a conference showdown, helping 'Hawk Head Coach Keri Carollo clinch the WIAC title and nail down her 200th career victory.

When she's not on the basketball court or studying, Cortney likes to watch movies and have dinner with teammates and friends.
Week of February 4th, - February 10th, 2013
Quardell Young Katie Kitzke
Guard :: UW-Whitewater Guard :: UW-Oshkosh
UW-Whitewater student/ athlete Warhawk guard Quardell Young (So.-Kenosha/WI) scored 35 points facing WIAC opponents this week, helping UW-Whitewater improve to 11-3 on the season, and is the WWS choice for WIAC men's basketball Player of the Week.

Quardell, ranked 20th in the conference in scoring (238), added a team-high 18 points to his season totals on Wednesday (2/6) in a dominating 64-50 'Hawk win against UW-Platteville.

Quardell had 4 rebounds in the contest and added 4 assists, giving him 85 on the season, 2nd in the WIAC.

Shooting 5-of-6 from the field the Warhawk guard tied for a game-high 17 points in a 84-53 Warhawk blowout win over visiting UW-Superior on Saturday (2/9) at Kachel Gym in Whitewater.

He also averages 1.91 steals per game, with 43 this year, tops in the league.

UW-Oshkosh student/ athlete Titan guard Katie Kitzke (Sr.-South Milwaukee/WI) helped the team win a pair of WIAC contests this past week, scoring 36 points, and is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball Player of the Week.

Adding a team-high 14 points to her season totals (284), ranked 8th in the conference, the Titan forward paced the squad in a closely played 56-53 UW-O win over visiting powerhouse UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday (2/6) at the Kolf Sports Complex.

Kitzke had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in the game, playing for 36 minutes.

On Saturday (2/9) facing conference foe UW-River Falls the Titan guard poured in a game-high 22 points, on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, making 9-of-10 free throw attempts, in a 66-64 Titan home win over the Falcons.

Kitzke is third in the conference in free throw percentage, successfully converting 85-of-99 attempts (.859%), playing in all 23 contests.

UW-Stout student/athlete Blue Devil guard Chris Hortman (Sr.-Milwaukee/WI) scored 36 points facing WIAC opponents this past week, helping the team to a 17-4 overall record, and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball Player of the Week.

At the Johnson Fieldhouse on Saturday (2/2) facing UW-Platteville Hortman closed the door on a Pioneer comeback down the stretch, icing a pair of free throws in the waning seconds, giving the Blue Devils a 53-50 win, finishing the game with 17 points.

On Wednesday, Hortman was one of four UW-Stout players finishing with double-figures in a lop-sided 92-78 Blue Devil home win over the visiting UW-Superior Yellowjackets, pouring in 19 points and pounding the glass for a team high 6 rebounds, playing for 22 minutes.

This season the Blue Devil guard is ranked 2nd on the team and 4th in the conference in scoring, with 288 total points, completing 105-of-252 field goal attempts (.417) and 41-of-103 (.398) three-point plays.

His rebounding average of 6.1 boards per game is third in the WIAC, with 124 boards this season (77 defensive) playing in 21 contests.
Despite UW-La Crosse losing a pair of contests this week at home, the WWS choice for WIAC Women's player of the week is UW-La Crosse student/athlete Eagle guard Briana Radowicz (Sr.-Mukwonago/WI).

Radowicz scored 40 points facing WIAC opponents including a team-high 18 points against UW-Whitewater at Mitchell Hall on Wednesday, a tough 56-58 Eagle loss to the #13 ranked Warhawks.

Radowicz had 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the contest, a game that was knotted up five times prior to the half.

On Saturday (2/2) the team was upended 65-57 by the 16th ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers, Briana leading all scorers with 22 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

On the season Radowicz is pacing the Eagles in scoring with 306 points, ranked third in the conference.

She has 92 rebounds (69 defensive) and 62 assists, 9th in the WIAC.

Last year Radowicz was second on the team in scoring (220 points), leading the squad in assists (59) and steals (51).
Week of January 21st, - January 27th, 2013
Joe Ritchay Brittany Gregorich
Guard :: UW-Stevens Point Forward :: UW-River Falls
UW-Stevens Point student/athlete Pointer guard Joe Ritchay (So.-Wisc Rapids) helped the team maintain an unblemished 11-0 WIAC record and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball Player of the Week.

Ritchay scored a game-high 15 points on Wednesday (1/23) at Bennett Court as the Pointers overcame a tough 13th ranked UW-Whitewater team 67-57, shooting 5-of-6 from the field, converting a trio of three-point plays, adding to his season total points (233), ranked 10th in the conference.

Ritchay, averaging 12.3 points game, was limited to 9 points on Saturday (1/29) against UW-Superior, but the Pointers continued their WIAC dominance with a 82-55 win over the visiting Yellowjackets.

This season Ritchay has racked up 88 rebounds (55 defensive), averaging 4.4 per game, playing in all 20 contests. He is 7th in the conference in assists, with 51, averaging 2.4 per game.
UW-River Falls student/athlete Falcon forward Brittany Gregorich (Sr.-Altoona/WI) recorded a pair of double-double game performances on the road facing WIAC opponents this past week and is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball Player of the Week.

Gregorich notched her seventh double-double of the season on Wednesday (1/23) as the visiting Falcons rally from a 1 point half-time deficit and down the UW-Stout Blue Devils 73-65 in overtime at the Johnson Fieldhouse.

Gregorich scored 15 points and grabbed 15 boards in the Falcon road-win, adding to her totals (274 points, #8) and 218 boards (135 defensive), ranked #1 in the conference.

Facing UW-Platteville on Saturday (1/26) at Bo Ryan Court, Brittany paced all scorers with 17 points in a 61-60 River Falls win over the Pioneers.

The Falcon forward picked up 10 rebounds and a pair of steals in the win.

Gregorich's 63 assists rank her seventh in the WIAC, averaging 3.10 per contest.
Week of January 14th, - January 20th, 2013

UW-Stout Blue Devil guard Chris Hortman (Sr.-Milwaukee/WI) scored 35 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in WIAC basketball play and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball Player of the Week.

Facing UW-La Crosse on Wednesday at the Johnson Field-house in Menomonie, Hortman dropped in a game-high 22 points and cleaned the glass for 13 rebounds, helping the Blue Devils to a 63-55 win over the visiting UW-L Eagles.

Hortman tied for a team-high 13 points on Saturday (1/19) at Kachel Gym as the Blue Devils clashed with UW-Whitewater in a road-contest, but despite the effort UW-Stout was upended 55-58 by the Warhawks.

This season the Blue Devil guard is ranked 16th in the WIAC in scoring (206 points), averaging 12.1 points per game, playing in 17 contests. Chris has converted 32 3-point plays, good enough for 5th in the league.

Hortman is also 7th in the conference in rebounding, with 100 total boards (70 defensive).
UW-Superior Yellowjacket guard Sally Linzmeier (So.-Valders/WI) scored 34 points facing WIAC opponents this past week and is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball player of the week.

UW-Superior improves to 15-3 on the season after defeating UW-Platteville 65-59 on Saturday (1/19) and overpowering UW-River Falls in a close game 72-67 on Wednesday (1/16).

Linzmeier paced all players with a game-high 22 points, on 9-of-17 shooting, against the Falcons. She scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, with 5 assists and 6 steals facing the Pioneers on Saturday (1/19).

Through 18 games played Linzmeier is 2nd in the conference in scoring, with 321 points, averaging 17.8 points per contest.

The Yellowjacket guard has 119 rebounds (69 defensive) ranked 5th in the WIAC.
Week of January 7th, - January 13th, 2013

UW-Whitewater student/athlete Warhawk forward/center Luke Knoble (Sr.-Boscobel/WI) helped the team to an 11-3 overall record this week, scoring 36 points, and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball player of the week.

Knoble converted 7-of-10 shots at Bo Ryan Court on Wednesday (1/9) facing the Platteville Pioneers, a 74-61 UW-Whitewater road-win, the Warhawk forward with a team-high 15 points in the victory.

Knoble added a game-high 21 points to his season totals (165) on Saturday against UW-Superior, but the visiting Warhawks were upended 69-66 by the Yellowjackets.

This season Knoble is ranked 11th in the conference in scoring (187) converting 79 field goals and 29 free throws.

He is 19th in rebounding (68) with 40 defensive boards, averaging 4.5 rebounds per game and has blocked 7 shots, 14th in the WIAC.
UW-Stevens Point student/athlete guard Sam Barber (Sr.-SchofieldWI) helped the Pointers win a pair of WIAC contests this week, scoring 58 points and is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball player of the week.

Barber had a game-high 33 points in a 86-57 Pointer rout of UW-Stout at the Johnson Fieldhouse in Menomonie on Wednesday (1/9) then followed up that effort on Saturday (1/12) with a 25 point performance facing UW-La Crosse, UW-SP prevailing 67-47.

Through 16 games played, Barber is pacing the conference in scoring (308) and is ranked 6th in the WIAC in rebounding (107 boards).

Barber has 28 steals, tied for 8th in the WIAC.

Week of December 31st, 2012 - January 6th, 2013

UW-Platteville student/athlete Pioneer center Chas Cross (Jr.-Winnebago/IL) scored 39 points facing WIAC opponents this week and is the WWS choice for WIAC Men's basketball player of the week.

Cross poured in 22 points in the first half on Saturday (1/5) at Bo Ryan Court facing UW-Superior, leading the Pioneers to a 50-24 advantage at the break, en route to a convincing 96-55 UW-P win over the visiting Yellowjackets.

On the road last Thursday (1/3) at Mitchell Hall, playing conference rival UW-La Crosse, Cross registered a double-double, racking up 12 rebounds (10 defensive) and scoring 17 points in a 65-53 Pioneer road loss to the Eagles, Cross' first double-double of the season.

Through 15 games played the Platteville center is pacing in the conference in rebounding, with 106 boards, averaging 7 boards per contest and is second in blocked shots (20). Cross has scored 210 points this season, ranked 2nd in the WIAC.
UW-Platteville student/athlete Pioneer guard Elizabeth Lawinger (Sr.-Mineral Point/WI) scored 36 points facing WIAC opponents this week and is the WWS choice for WIAC Women's basketball Player of the Week.

On Saturday (1/5) at home on Bo Ryan Court facing UW-Superior, Lawinger added a game-high 22 points to her season totals (154), but despite the effort the Pioneers were upended by the Yellowjackets 71-64.

Lawinger scored a team-high 14 points on Thursday (1/3) at Mitchell Hall against the UW-La Crosse Eagles, adding 7 rebounds and 6 steals in a closely played 46-45 Pioneer road-loss.

Lawinger is the conference leader in assists (57) and is 6th in the WIAC in steals (35) playing in all 15 contests.
